I loved the essay on unlearning school
Have you seen those electronic collars that some dogs have to wear? Every time the dog goes out of the yard it gets electrocuted. The dog quickly learns not to cross the invisible boundary set by its owner. Eventually the dog learns this lesson so well that the owner can take the collar off. Same thing happens with us. We are trained by our parents, our peers, and our teachers to travel along narrow paths set by them, and then when we are finally released from their control we keep travelling those narrow paths.
We don't have to accept that future. We can decide to explore the life that is outside those paths. We can decide to throw away our introjected values and begin to listen to ourselves again.
